Unlock Super License

First earn the A, B, International A, B, & C Licenses. The Super License will now be available.

Unlock Event Synthesizer Race

After earning the Super License(see above), you will be able to unlock the Event Synthesizer Race.

Eight Tracks

Go to Arcade Mode and enter the "Bonus Items" option. You should see the letters A, B, and C above each of the levels given. As you do the following, they will be covered with a blue, yellow, or red dot. To fill in the four big question marks, go back to the main Arcade Mode screen. Then, go to "Single Race", choose any difficulty level, and place first in each of the four original levels with an A class car e.g., Mitsubishi GTO, a B class car e.g., Mitsubishi Eclipse, and a C class car (ex: Honda Civic 3-Door). After you have done this, go back to the "Bonus Items" menu and the four big question marks should be filled in with these levels: Autumn Ring, Deep Forest, SS R5, and Grand Valley Speedway. That totals eight tracks.

To get the GT hi-fi mode

Finish the GT world cup then the GT hi-fi mode will be appear in the special event.

Hints

In arcade mode, winning first place, on any of the original four tracks, in all three classes of vehicles (a, b, c} will open a new track ( a total of four). If you come in first on all eight tracks, in all classes of vehicles, on the EASY difficulty setting, four new car manufacters will be available for you to choose from (Toyota, Subaru, Dodge, including a concept car, and TVR). If you win first on all eight tracks, in all classes of vehicles, on the NORMAL difficulty setting, a cheesy movie and the game credits will be available.

Break the sound barrier in GT

Select a 4WD car. Start and get some speed. Hit a wall at 90 degree. Hold the throttle open. Now your car is stopped, wheels spinning and smoking. Slightly steer to whichever you want to go. Suddenly your car is accelerated. Try to keep your car sticking to the wall so that the acceleration continue.

Easy Start

This game is very different than GT, you don't win Cups anymore, you have to race tracks one by one. Also, most of the races are limited to a certain HP. The first races you should take are the Sunday Cup and the Clubman Cup. Buy a used R32 Skyline and tune it enough to have a lot of HP. Race all of the races and keep gaining money.

Easy Money and Cars

First,you must have at least 300,000 now and an I-A liscense. Buy a Mitsubishi 3000GT MR-Twin Turbo and tune it to the max. Go to Special Events and enter the No#1 Tuned Turbo Car World Cup. All the races here pay 50,000, but are kinda hard. Pick the one with the Test Course. The cars here are unforgiving so make sure you tune your car to go to at least 210 MPH. Race 3 consecutive times and you will win the second ultimate car the HKS R33 Drag. Which sells for 250,000.

License tests guide

First 2 parts of getting license B - you must come to a complete stop in the checked area at the end of the track within the time limit (36 then 27 - I think).

In all the sessions you must get under the time on the description screen, but on the first 2 you've also got to brake and stop on the checkered bit after the finish line. Your time doesn't count until you've completely stopped.

B License

B-1 through B-7 must be passed before entering B-8.

License B-1 [Start, Accelerate, and Stop, part 1]

acccelerate in a straight line from starting point and stop completely in the goal area at 1000 meters away. Overunning the goal area or over-time, you are disqualified. The car is Mazda Demio. Time limit is 36 seconds.

License B-2 [Start, Accelerate, and Stop, part 2]

Accelerate in a straight line from starting point and stop completely in the goal area at 1000 meters away. Since the car is heavier and more powerful, you'll need to brake earlier. The car is Mitsubishi GTO. Time limit is 27 seconds.

License B-3 [Basic Cornering, part 1]

Accelerate the straight from starting point, turn the first corner, and run through the finish gate over the hill. Be careful to corner smoothly. Course-out is disqualified. The car is Honda CR-X Del Sol. Time limit is 29 seconds.

License B-4 [Basic Cornering, part 2]

Accelerate the straight from starting point, turn the first corner, and run through the finish gate over the hill. Be careful to corner smoothly. Going out of the course disqualifies immediately. The car is Nissan Silvia. Time limit is 26 seconds.

License B-5 [Basic Cornering, part 3]

Accelerate the straight from starting point, turn the first corner, and run through the finish gate over the hill. Be careful to corner smoothly. Going out of the course disqualifies immediately. The car is Mitsubishi GTO. Time limit is 25 seconds.

License B-6 [Basics of Complex Cornering, part 1]

Accelerate from starting point, corner the S-curve smoothly, and go through the finish gate. Going out of the course disqualifies immediately. The car is a FF car, Mitsubishi FTO GPX. Time limit is 28 seconds.

License B-7 [Basics of Complex Cornering, part 2]

Accelerate from starting point, corner the S-curve smoothly, and go through the finish gate. Going out of the course disqualifies immediately. The car is an FR car, Nissan Silvia K's. Time limit is 27 seconds.

License B-8 [B License Examination]

Time trial using the full course of Highspeed Ring. Start from still and circle the course once. The car is Mazda Roadster V Special. Time limit is 1 minute 22 seconds.

A License

A-1 through A-7 must be passed to enter A-8.

License A-1 [Practical Cornering, part 1]

Accelerate from starting point, turn the first corner, and go through the finish gate. Beware that the straight is longer than previous tests, and the entrance speed to the corner is higher. The car is Toyota Supra. Time limit is 34 seconds.

License A-2 [Practical Cornering, part 2]

Accelerate from starting point, turn right the first corner, and go through the finish gate. Beware that the straight is longer than previous tests, so that the entrance speed to the corner is higher. The car is Toyota Supra RZ. Time limit is 26 seconds.

License A-3 [Practical Cornering, part 3]

Accelerate through the long straight, and turn right tightly the first corner. Since you have to brake while turning gradually left before the first corner, the machine tend to lose stability. The car is Mazda RX-7. Time limit is 44 seconds.

License A-4 [Applied Complex Cornering, part 1]

Go through the complex series of corners efficiently. Do not slow down unnecesarily, maintain the average speed of the whole section. The car is Nissan Skyline GT-R. Time limit is 39 seconds.

License A-5 [Applied Complex Cornering, part 2]

Go through the high-speed left-right S-curve, and turn tight to left. It is vital to keep the exit speed of the last tight left turn. Touching to the wall will lose the time big. The car is Honda Prelude. Time limit is 32 seconds.

License A-6 [Applied Complex Cornering, part 3]

Go through the complex corners after the acceleration section. Since you have to brake while turning left for the first right tight-turn, machine will tend to lose stability. Also keep the line smooth. The car is Toyota MR2. Time limit is 27 seconds.

License A-7 [Special Technique]

Go round the 100-meter tiny specially-set circuit for 5 times. You need to turn quickly without spinning, using low-speed hand-brake technique. The car is Subaru Impreza. Time limit is 33 seconds.

License A-8 [A License Examination]

Start, turn right the first corner, go through the high-speed section, turn right a hair-pin, then finish. This is a tough test that goes through tight turn with high-speed entrance. The car is Toyota Supra RZ. Time limit is 1 minute 8 seconds.

International A License

IA-1 through IA-7 must be passed to enter IA-8.

License IA-1 [Attack the High Speed Ring]

Start from still and time the one lap time. Since it's a full course time attack, it will require every technique. The car is TVR Griffith. Time limit is 1 minute 7 seconds.

License IA-2 [Attack the SS Route 5]

Start from still and time the one lap time. Since it's a full course time attack, it will require every technique. The car is Dodge Viper. Time limit is 1 minute 30 seconds.

License IA-3 [Attack the Grand Valley]

Start from still and time the one lap time. Since it's a full course time attack, it will require every technique. The car is TVR Griffith. Time limit is 2 minute 3 seconds.

License IA-4 [Attack the Deep Forest]

Start from still and time the one lap time. Since it's a full course time attack, it will require every technique. The car is Dodge Viper. Time limit is 1 minute 23 seconds.

License IA-5 [Attack the Autumng Ring]

Start from still and time the one lap time. Since it's a full course time attack, it will require every technique. The car is TVR Griffith. Time limit is 1 minute 24 seconds.

License IA-6 [Attack the Trial Mountain]

Start from still and time the one lap time. Since it's a full course time attack, it will require every technique. The car is Dodge Viper. Time limit is 1 minute 33 seconds.

License IA-7 [Attack the SS Route 11]

Start from still and time the one lap time. It's a long and complex course. Study the course and reduce the time. The car is TVR Griffith. Time limit is 2 minute 11 seconds.

License IA-8 [International A License Examination]

(Reversed Grand Valley in 1 minute 59 seconds.)

Double Your Cash and Garage Space

It is understood that your garage in Gran Turismo 2 only holds 100 cars at a time. Lets say you have 100 cars and $10 million credits Save your game play twice on two differants memory cards. Use one card as your primary garage and one as your secondary garage. Now take the first card and sell off all the lower cars then safe agian. Now take the secondary card , load up and sell all the higher cars then safe again on the secondary card. Keep your best race cars on the primary and all others on the secondary. You have now double your garage space to 200 and have doubled your credits with 10 million in each , plus what you got for the sold cars for a total credits of 20 million plus whatever earned on sold cars, split between the two garages. If you need to transfer a car from one garage to the other, use the data tranfer mode off the main menu by buying the cars off each other You will never lose the money for you own both garages. When one garage fills up, do it again.

Extra HP in HP limited races

On the simulation disc you can use a car with up to 5 more HP on the races (with limited HP). Go buy a item such as race mufflers or computer, but do not equip them on the car. Before the race go into settings and equip the item. The computer will allow around 5 HP more than posted.

Get the elusive Lancia Stratos

To get the rare and very futuristic looking Stratos, despite that it was made in the 80's, you must beat the 200KM Apricot Hill Endurace Race. You may also get a [R]Viper GTS-R.

Quick Way To Get Going

Buy a fairly cheap car and win the really easy things (e.g Sunday Cup). Then use your little funds to get your car to around 200hp. Then enter the last race of the 80's sports cars cup at Thaiti Road. This should not be difficult to win and you get a racing edition 80's Skyline with about 550hp. With this you can win anything and get loads of money.

Fast Money

First get every lisence up to international A. Then go to mazda used cars and buy the one which is the most expencive (for under ?10,000. The colour for the car is brilliant black). Then go and win the first race of the Sunday Cup until you get ?25000-?27000. Then go to Mitibishi used cars and buy the blue lancer. Then go to Muscle Cup under special events. Win the first race around 3 times and you win ?7000 each time. But you win a car which you can sell for ?25000. Now tune your lancer with all the things which gives you more speed. Now enter the second race of the Muscle Cup. Here you win ?8000 and a car which you can sell for ?75000. Win that 7 or 8 times and you have yourself with over ?500,000! Its easy if your as good as me!

Really easy money

Using a Escuda on the 3rd race of Gran Turismo All Stars can net up to 10 million dollars in a hour. Another easy one is the 1st race on The touring car under special events. The car is worth 125,000.

Hidden Video of the GT Staff

In Arcade Mode, first get the hidden tracks, then, on every track, take 1st place with any car in A,B, and C class mode on Normal setting or higher. Then go to Bonus Items, you'll see "Staff Video" on the menu.

Hi-Fi Mode, Bonus Cars and Bonus Tracks

To get all the bonus items in Arcade mode, which include the four other tracks (Autumn Ring, Deep Forest, SSR5, and Grand Valley Speedway), all the other cars (Toyota, Subaru, Dodge, and TVR), the ending movie, and Hi-res GT Mode, you have to beat every single track with each type of car (A, B, and C) under all three modes of difficulty (Easy, Normal, Difficult.)

Free Parts

It seems there is a bug in GT which means you can make free duplicate copies of any parts you buy for a particular type of car. Try this:

Buy two identical cars. Give them a different color scheme if you like.

Buy loads of parts for the first one - fully spec it up if you like.

Check out its list of fitted parts from the garage (you should see a list of what you just bought.)

Switch to the other car and get in it (the one which you haven't fitted any parts on yet) and check its fitted parts list (should be empty).

Still in the second car, go race (Spot Race will do).

When you get options to qualify, go to Machine Setting, then Change Parts. You'll now find you can select all the parts from the other car, tyres, turbos, suspension, intercooler etc, in effect fully spec'ing up the second car.

Exit the race, and go back to the garage. Check out the list of fitted parts for both cars. The parts are now installed for both of them!

NOTE:This won't work for the Weight Reduction or Racing Mod options and a few other things (like port polishing), as these are not available from the Change Parts menu - they're not really "parts" as such anyway. Also, it doesn't seem to work with cars that have been won.

Of course the best thing you can do with this is sell the extra cars. As it cost you nothing to increase its specs, you'll make a profit when you sell it!

Faster Acceleration

To accelerate faster, rev your engine during the countdown. Be sure to go from the lowest point in neutral to the hightest point in neutral, and back down to the lowest point in neutral as many times as you can before you go.

Easy Money

The easiest way to get lots of money later in the game is to race the qualifier for the all nighter. You get $20,000 just for qualifing and it is very easy to do this with the GTO special edition or any other car with good speed/acceleration and handling. It takes app. 1'45" to complete with the GTO special edition.

Concept Car

In order to get the Dodge Concept Car, which you cant buy, you have to win the British vs US race.

Get some speed

Then smash a wall at a 90 degree angle

Hug the wall for about half a lap

As soon as you do that get off the wall quickly and start driving on the road. Enjoy your speed!

Breaking the Sound Barrier

This cheat lets you get up to very high speeds and "breaking the sound barrier". Here are the steps:

1.000.000 $

Go backwards on high speed ring for three laps if you don't go off the track or hit any cars when you pass the finish line the third time you should here a car

horn then at the main menu, you will have 1000000 dollars and the concept car.

Super Car

Super car get a gto twin turbo (mitsubishi) sup it up all the way and it should be able to hit 248 mph.

Super Car (modified)

Originally, Shannon put that if you just 'sup' up a Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo, you'll hit 248 MPH. If you know how, mess with the Gear ratio's for the car's racing transmission. You'll be able to hit over 250.

Unlimited Money and all Cars

Enter the Gran Turismo mode. Go into your garage and get into a Dodge Viper R/10 in the blue colour. (you can get this car at Chrisler) go and start the Sunday Cup you will need a B-Licence for this. When you are Racing do the first lap without coming of the Track as soon as you did the first lap turn around and drive the other direction.

Do that one lap without comming of the track once. After you done that pause the game and press L1+R1+cross+up+down and then quit the race. Go to the garage and change your car to anything you like.

If you done this right you should hear a ringing sound under neath your screen it should say "unlimited credits". You will have unlimited credits and all the cars in the gran turismo mode.

Quick cash

Once you have obtained the I-B license, buy a decent car with under 394 HP (I used a tuned up Mitsubishi Lancer GSR VI). Once you have done this, go to the 80's Sports Car Cup, under Special Events. Go to the fifth race in this cup (Tahiti Road). Tahiti road is an easy track to win at, and every time you win, you recieve 10000 cash and a Nissan Skyline worth 125,000 credits. You may not want to sell it though. It has 555 HP and a Maz Speed of 190 MPH. Consider winning this race multiple times, and selling all of the cars but one.
