Janes USAF
Test pilot
Due to the pervasive record-keeping nature of the game's Pilot Feedback System, you should create a second "test pilot" as a guinea pig for dodgy missions or experimental flights. This way, your primary on-screen persona can advance through the ranks more quickly and not have to make up for the thousands of negative points that failed missions and destroyed aircraft can generate (even in Training mode).
Wingmen
When entering into a furball with a flight of enemy planes, use your wingmen as much as possible. By issuing regular commands such as "engage the other one" or "protect me," you will carve out a little more flying room for yourself and shouldn't see quite as many inbound missiles with your name on them.
AI Wingman
Conversely, when designing missions from the Quick Mission Editor or the separate Mission Builder utility, you should have your multiship flights start in the air. The AI wingman pilots are highly prone to crashing into one another on the taxiways when you start them on the ground.

Reach Speed 2,000 Knots+
To reach high speeds in excess of 2,000 knots, even to 3,000+ choose any plane, preferrably not a F-117A or A-10A, and go to about 30,000 feet. Then start rolling to the side by pressing and hold the directional key, or using your joystick by holding it to the right or left, to the side on full afterburner, as you keep spinning your nose should start pointing downwards, keep spinning and your speed can reach into the thousands. Sometimes the display stops at 998 Knots, but you are going faster anyway. This may make you plane shake but it can still be maneuvered. Going to very high altitudes through this method can cause your plane to go into a flat spin, which you won't be able to get out of. To speed up the whole process, press "C" to times to increase speed to 4X.

Hints
Never send just one plane anywhere; fights will be better if you send a pair of fighters, even when identifying unknown craft.
Lead your air assaults with HARM missile-equipped planes. These missiles hone in on the enemy's active radar, taking
it out and shutting down the enemy's air defense.
Years ago, the U.S. Navy taught its tactical-action officers (the folks in charge of employing a ship's weapons) to "shoot,
shoot, look." You should do the same. Fire two missiles at any incoming target. Wait to see the result, and then fire again if necessary.
Swarm. Don't attack with a Harpoon here, a Maverick there; hit the bad guys with everything you have. There is a much
greater chance of destroying your target if you swamp its defenses.
Stay cool. Don't use your radar or activate sonar until you are in battle; otherwise, you'll give your position away. If necessary, send a ship (called the picket ship) ahead of your task force. Order this ship to light off its radar. Hopefully, it will discover the waiting enemy; of course, it might also discover ten cruise missiles headed its way--but hey, life's full of little surprises.

Invulnerability and Unlimited Ammo
Go to the Main Menu and enter the options screen. After that, go to gameplay and select settings. Now look at the bottom of the screen, it will say: "Cheats= Invulnerability and Unlimited Ammo" with boxes to check if you want them on.
Fly any plane
I'm not sure whether these are cheats or just some programing errors, but I consider them cheats. This is one of the discoveries I found in Janes F-15:
When you are in the mission builder YOU can fly any plane in the list.
Make a new mission, edit a campiagn mission, etc. Choose the human plane (your plane) and choose a plane other than F-15 (eg. SU-27, Mig-29, etc.) when you fly the mission campaign or whatever, the cockpit will look like the F-15's, but press F8 (exterior view) and see the difference!!!
Note: My F-15 is version is 1.02F and I don't know whether it applies to newer versions.
Jane`s F/A-18 Simulator
Hints
This is a tough simulation. If you're used to Top Gun, then you're in for a rude awakening. Take the time to work through most, if not all, of the training missions, and perhaps a couple of the simple single missions, before taking on the campaign.
Choose the right loadout for the mission. If tank busting is the job at hand, don't choose the HARM package. By the same token, if you have been directed to take out the enemy air defense system, don't load up with an unguided Close Air Support (CAS) package.
In many ways, flying is much like driving a race car: the smoother you are, the better you will be. Treat your Super Hornet gently. Anticipate your next move and flow into it smoothly. Remember, move the control surfaces as slowly as possible while turning, looping, diving, or whatever.
Your two best friends are airspeed and altitude. Low and slow is bad unless you are either flying inbound to the USS Reagan or trying to move significant amounts of mud. Attempt to keep an altitude advantage on your opponent. You can trade that altitude for speed and-if you come out of the sun surprise.
